A heliport marriage proposal in Rio de Janeiro
Juan proposed to Andrea at a heliport in Rio de Janeiro, with a helicopter flight planned right after the yes.
We set up on the lawn next to the helicopter hangars. The main piece was a row of large lit letters spelling "MARRY ME?", placed in front of the parked helicopters. The day was overcast, which kept the light soft and even for the photos.
The proposal
Juan brought Andrea to the setup and proposed on one knee in front of the letters. She said yes, and he put the ring on her finger.
They hugged and kissed right there, and Juan raised his fist in celebration. We photographed the ring up close, then gave them a flower bouquet and opened sparkling wine for a toast next to the sign.
The helicopter flight over Rio
After the proposal, Juan and Andrea boarded the helicopter. We photographed them inside the cabin with headsets on, during the flight over the coastline and the city.
When they landed, we finished with photos of the two of them next to the helicopter on the helipad.

Yes. In this proposal the question happened on the ground at the heliport, and the flight came right after.
Is it better to propose before or during the flight?
Proposing on the ground before takeoff allows a full setup, like the lit letters, and gives more room for photos. The flight then becomes the celebration.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The flight depends on the pilot's weather clearance on the day. If the flight cannot take off, the date is rescheduled.
